Graphically, it's a nice site... however... the logo kind of freaks me out...
...Is she planning on dropping an Alaskan-shaped bomb into the center the contiguous United States...? and what about Hawaii? Shouldn't they be represented too.... lol
Also, why is her contact info in Virginia?
Grandma's crazy.

: (

to all my lovely practitioners of OUGDOMFG:
I am sad to report that our tasteless antics have not been smiled upon by the powers that be. 'the man' did not actually come out and say that we can not use the title of OUGDOMFG for our show, however they said that it would not be a good idea.
basically FUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK we need to think of a new theme.. this should not be too difficult of a task for this talented group of BrainThugs.. after a discussion with some other people in the class we'd like to have EVERYONE come up with at least two legit ideas for the show by class on Wednesday, THIS MEANS YOU APATHETIC SLACKERS NEED TO CONTRIBUTE.
shit.

SUNDAY MEETING
the meeting for this sunday has been changed to 3PM. everyone should know exactly what they're going to do for their thesis by then (coughLOGANcough) so that we can discuss set-up and get get a general idea of what we're working with.
again: 3:00PM. SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1. BE THERE.
again: 3:00PM. SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1. BE THERE.
INFO FOR LOUNGE OF LOVE
MUSIC (eman/ian) - they have a hookup for an ipod or laptop, or they have ipods we can use
DRINK SPECIALS - $1.50 domestic bottles and $2.50 well drinks
*Chandra will not be there the night of our party, so if the bartender is not serving the $2.50 well drinks we need to make sure and tell them that Chandra said it was okay for them to do this.
POSTER - Make sure we hang up a sign in the window of 19 South!! And add the correct info and
COVER CHARGE - When people walk in, they are carded by the bouncer and get a wristband if they are going downstairs. People that are underage will pay $2 and get X's on their hands and a wristband for downstairs, if you are over 21 you just get the wristband for downstairs. So I was thinking to have $3 cover for 21+ and 4$ for under 21. This would mean straight profit on the over 21ers and a $2 profit for underagers. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS THEN PLEASE SPEAK UP.
SECURITY - We are in charge of regulating who comes downstairs and collecting our own money. We can talk about shifts for this later. However, she said that if there is someone that we don't want there (ahem Seth Miller ahem) then we just tell the security or bartenders and they'll take care of it!
If you have any more questions about what I wrote here or if you want me to ask Chandra other things let me know!! =)

NEW RULE
Actually....
OUGDOMFG : The Brand

NEXT STEPS>>>
We need to discover the OUGDOMFG Brand.
We obviously already have a name:
Ohio University Graphic Design Oh My Fantastic Graphics
We have to create a brand image that will transcend into t-shirts, webpages, postcards, posters, and more. It represents who we are as a group of 20 young promising design BFAs. Not only are other SoA students coming to this show, but so will our friends, roommates, parents, siblings, faculty, deans, and even design managers from local design firms in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and more. It's a BIG DEAL.
THIS WEEK Let's (that means EVERYONE) fill the right portion of the back board (by Logan, Amy, and Ian) with visual inspiration. Pin-up poster design ideas, typefaces, photos, sketches, Pantone chips, ANYTHING!! Whatever you think will help inspire the creation of our brand. From this visual language, we'll be able to come up with solid, concrete ideas.
SUNDAY at 8:00pm we'll meet back in 404. We'll come up with a good idea of the direction we want to go in. It's really important that everyone possible shows up. We're a democracy here so everyone has to have a voice. From here, this is where we'll start to delineate to the poster/PR/web groups for creation of the actual look.

Last time on OUGDOMFG>>>
We picked poster designs for L.O.L.
Congrats Scott, Eman and Mickey, you won!
Winning posters are hanging up on the board, with corrections that need to be made.
If you have any questions ask Murphy Lee or Where's Waldo.
Envelopes for Don's cards are in!!!!
After studio M + W we are going to package them up and get them ready to sell.
We'll be selling these at school offices, including the President's office in Cutler.
We'll figure out those logistics later.
They will be on sale for $15.

Looking Closer Three
the text on the back of the book:
“An Extraordinary Collection. Looking Closer 3 offers a comprehensive look at the people, ideas, and social and economic forces that have shaped the terrain of graphic design in the twentieth century.”
- Stuart Ewen, professor, chair of film and media studies, Hunter College
“This book is a genuine ‘instant classic.’ Looking Closer 3 proves that history’s greatest designers were also lucid critics and theorists of their discipline. This book should be required reading for all design students!”
- Ellen Lupton, cochair of the graphic design department, Maryland Institute, College of Art, curator of contemporary design, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum
The rare essays in this first anthology of historical writing on graphic design reveal the discipline’s multifarious and polemical journey from commercial art to the highly professional and dedicated practice it is today. Each text in this third Looking Closer collection provides insight into a significant moment, development, or debate. In manifestos, broadsides, articles, and conference papers, designers and design observers grapple with the critical issues of Modernism, commercialism, aesthetics, feminism, traditionalism versus progressivism, and social responsibility. These vibrant and seminal works build a framework through which to understand the growth of a visual practice that helped to define the look of everyday communication and life.
Writings by M.R. Agha, Herbert Bayer, William Bernbach, Misha Black, Gui Bonsiepe, Alexey Brodovitch, Will Burtin, Earnest Elmo Calkins, T.M. Cleland, Fortunato Depero, Walter Dexel, Jay Doblin, W.A. Dwiggins, Anthony Froshaug, Ken Garland, William Golden, Frederic W. Goudy, Ashley Havinden, dom Sylvester Houédard, Aldous Huxley, György Kepes, Sheila Levrant de Bretteville, El Lissitzky, Herb Lubalin, Alvin Lustig, F.T. Marinetti, Marshall McLuhan, Douglas C. McMurtrie, George Melly, Francis Meynell, Lészló Moholy-Nagy, William Morris, Walter P. Paepcke, Victor Papanek, Paul and Ann Rand, Alexander Rodchenko, Emil Ruder, Jon Savage, Leslie Savan, Piet Schreduers, Susan Sontag, Herbert Spencer, Varvara Stepanova, Ladislav Sutnar, Jan Tschichold, Massimo Vignelli, Beatrice Warde, Thomas J. Watson, Jr., and Wolfgang Weingart.
