senior moment #4
for about the 3rd time this week i have tried to command+z my web browser....*sigh* can tomorrow be over yet?
Spring Fundraiser Info
I can repeat all this tomorrow in class but here is the scoop for if we want to rent out Red Brick's Bullpen:
- I booked the fundraiser for Friday, April 17th (we have to cancel 2 weeks prior so my credit card doesn't get charged!!)
- The hours would be from 9-12.
- If people are underage they HAVE to be there before 10pm. Once they are in, they can stay for the duration of the party.
- Cover charge is up to us completely. We can collect it or a red brick employee can. We will get all the proceeds for this.
- If we want to buy a Keg it is 152$ of our choice of beer (she specifically mentioned bud light or miller light. i dont know how crazy we can get with the beer pick). So we can charge for a pitcher or by the glass or not at all if we want to use it as an incentive to come or whatever.
- So here's the semi-sucky part. It is going to be 181.77$ to rent it out for 3 hours. It is originally 125$ to rent the place, then an additional 20$ if there are more than 30 people there (dont ask why??) and then plus tax will equal 181.77$.
Sooooooo it's a little more than we expected BUT we can make the cover charge whatever we want and get ALL the money AND we can charge for the keg if we want to go that route.
So PLEASE let me know what you guys think!!! If you think it is too expensive I can cancel it. But, obviously, we need to figure this out sooner than later.....
About Jackie O's:
I called Jackie O's and the girl didn't give me much info so someone is calling me back. But she did say that some group rented out the place and they had a beer-tasting thing that was 15$ and 5$ of it went to charity. I'm not sure if that's the route we want to go or not but just throwing it out there. I will give you more info on Jackie O's when they call me back.
Until then, let me know your thoughts about Red Brick!! =)

what I did this weekend
okay, so my GF Nicki came to Athens to visit, and she doesn't have a drivers license so she came via bus, while in the Akron Greyhound station a man resembling George Carlin came up to her and handed her this note:

later that night after drinking significant quantities of everclear and whatnot I decided to give Ron a call:
an hour or so after the call to Ron (after much more everclear) we decided to give him another call.. unfortunately he didn't answer and we left him a message

Lounge of Love Two???

Hello All. Since Lounge of Love was such a success some of us thought it would be a good idea to do it again!!! If we decide to do it again I would like to book the room now-ish so that we get our desired date. I'm thinking early next quarter sometime so that 1) it will be before all the fests start and 2) we'll know how much money we have and therefore may be able to spend some extra for promotions or just really big posters of Jeremy.
Let me know if you guys want to do another one and then we can talk about dates and themes and what not. =)
p.s. this kid is really sweet

This is mostly for Nora and Elle.. Apparently we are very photogenic because we were posted in multiple pictures from the Signs of Change Exhibition on flicker and their website..
Australian Tourism Website

The questions below about Australia are from potential visitors. They were posted on an Australian Tourism Website and the answers are the actual responses by the website officials.
Q: Does it ever get windy in Australia? I have never seen it rain on TV, How do the plants grow? (UK).
A: We import all plants fully grown and then just sit around watching them all die.
Q: Will I be able to see kangaroos in the street? (USA).
A: Depends how much you've been drinking.
Q: I want to walk from Perth to Sydney - can I follow the railroad tracks? (Sweden).
A: Sure, it's only three thousand miles, take lots of water.
Q: Is it safe to run around in the bushes in Australia? (Sweden).
A: So it's true what they say about Swedes.
Q: Are there any ATMs (cash machines) in Australia? Can you send me a list of them in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville and Hervey Bay? (UK).
A: What did your last slave die of?
Q: Can you give me some information about hippo racing in Australia? (USA).
A: A-fri-ca is the big triangle shaped continent south of Europe.
Aus-tra-lia is that big island in the middle of the Pacific which does not.. oh forget it. ... Sure, the hippo racing is every Tuesday night in Kings Cross. Come naked.
Q: Which direction is North in Australia? (USA).
A: Face south and then turn 180 degrees. Contact us when you get here and we'll send the rest of the directions.
Q: Can I bring cutlery into Australia? ( UK).
A: Why? Just use your fingers like we do.
Q: Can you send me the Vienna Boys' Choir schedule? (USA).
A: Aus-tri-a is that quaint little country bordering Ger-man-y, which is...oh forget it. Sure, the Vienna Boys Choir plays every Tuesday night in Kings Cross, straight after the hippo races. Come naked.
Q: Can I wear high heels in Australia? ( UK).
A: You're a British politician, right?
Q: Are there supermarkets in Sydney and is milk available all year round? (Germany).
A: No, we are a peaceful civilization of vegan hunter/gatherers. Milk is illegal.
Q: Please send a list of all doctors in Australia who can dispense Rattlesnake serum. (USA).
A: Rattlesnakes live in A-meri-ca which is where YOU come from. All Australian snakes are perfectly harmless, can be safely handled and make good pets.
Q: I have a question about a famous animal in Australia, but I forget its name. It's a kind of bear and lives in trees. (USA).
A: It's called a Drop Bear. They are so called because they drop out of Gum trees and eat the brains of anyone walking underneath them. You can scare them off by spraying yourself with human urine before you go out walking.
Q: Do you have perfume in Australia? (France).
A: No, WE don't stink.
Q: I have developed a new product that is the fountain of youth. Can you tell me where I can sell it in Australia? (USA).
A: Anywhere significant numbers of Americans gather.
Q: Can you tell me the regions in Tasmania where the female population is smaller than the male population? (Italy).
A: Yes, gay nightclubs.
Q: Do you celebrate Christmas in Australia? (France).
A: Only at Christmas.
Q: I was in Australia in 1969 on R+R, and I want to contact the girl I dated while I was staying in Kings Cross. Can you help? (USA).
A: Yes, and you will still have to pay her by the hour.
Q: Will I be able to speak English most places I go? (USA).
A: Yes, but you'll have to learn it first.

Words of Wisdom for the Week
HANDWRITING POR FAVOR!!
hello everyone- I am collecting handwriting samples. So if you have any class notes, letters, christmas cards, old agenda books or anything at all with handwritten writing lying around could you please please please give them to me!
Criteria- Any handwriting welcome, it doesn't have to be yours. It can be in any color, and can be both print or cursive on any piece of paper at any size. The focus of the handwriting will not be on what the actual words say, it is on the letterforms so it can say anything. However, please do not give me samples with things that you would not want me or anyone else to read. Most likely I am just going to be picking and choosing letters more than using whole words, so if you're worried about the content of your handwriting sample, don't be!
